Evanna Lynch paid tribute to ‘Harry Potter’ on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ after J.K. Rowling helped save her life [WATCH]

“My most memorable year was 2006, which was when I booked the role on ‘Harry Potter,’ said actress Evanna Lynch about one of her most formative experiences. She was reliving the past for Most Memorable Year Night on “Dancing with the Stars,” but the significance of “Harry Potter” goes back farther for Lynch than just playing Luna Lovegood. When she was a preteen Lynch struggled with an eating disorder, and the “Harry Potter” novels helped her through it.

“And so I started writing to J.K. Rowling, and she wrote back. We became pen friends after that,” Lynch revealed. Those books and correspondences made her want to “live again,” and the outlet of acting gave her something she cared about more than being skinny. So she and her pro partner Keo Motsepe danced a Viennese waltz to the “Harry Potter” theme, and she had the judges under her spell.

Carrie Ann Inaba was stunned by how much Lynch has grown as a performer after just three weeks of competition. Len Goodman called her waltz “a magic performance.” And Bruno Tonioli said, “Your magic is stronger than ever … You were so determined, so self-assured.” She scored 9s from the entire judging panel, giving her a grand total of 27 out of 30. That was her highest score of the season so far, and it tied her with Tinashe and Milo Manheim for the second-highest score of the night. The only one who scored higher was Juan Pablo Di Pace, who received the season’s first perfect 30.
