Our readers really want Cheryl Burke to win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for the third time

Cheryl Burke and Val Chmerkovskiy were both gunning for their third Mirrorball trophies on “Dancing with the Stars,” and now with Chmerkovskiy out after his and Nancy McKeon‘s elimination on Tuesday, only Burke can get No. 3 this season. But that’s fine with our readers because 78 percent want Burke to get her third Mirrorball first.

Burke won back-to-back Mirrorballs on her first two seasons on the show with Drew Lachey (Season 2) and Emmitt Smith (Season 3) and has since racked up two second-place finishes, with Gilles Marini (Season 8) and Rob Kardashian (Season 13), and three third-place finishes, with Cristian de la Fuente (Season 6), William Levy (Season 14) and Jack Osbourne (Season 17). She’s partnered with “Fuller House” star Juan Pablo Di Pace this season and they’re looking strong, having scored the first perfect 30 of the season on Monday for their samba.

Since Burke hasn’t won in 12 years, a victory this season would give her the longest gap between wins. For comparison, Derek Hough won his record six Mirrorballs in a span of seven years. No one else has won more than two.

Chmerkovskiy received 22 percent of the vote. He took home his dual Mirrrorballs far more recently than Burke, in Season 20 with Rumer Willis and Season 23 with Laurie Hernandez. He finished in second with Zendaya in Season 16 and has four third-place finishes, with Kelly Monaco (Season 15), Janel Parrish (Season 19), Ginger Zee (Season 22) and Normani Kordei (Season 24). He and McKeon earned some decent, middle-of-the-pack scores, but the fan support just wasn’t there, or was no match for Bachelor Nation.
